GOOGLE SAYS  

. What is Google summer of code ? 
- Google summer of code is a global , online program focused on bringing new contributors  into open     source software developments . Gsoc contributor work with an open source organization on a    12+       week programming project under the guidance of mentors . 

GSOC STIPEND FOR PROJECTS

. It pays $1500 us dollar for  small projects and $3000 us dollar for large projects which amount is            more      than 2.4 lakh rupees . 

WHY YOU SHOULD TO WORK IN GSOC ?

. Not for the stipend but for the experience because stipend is temporary but experience is permanent . 

TO UNDERSTAND GSOC'S TIMELINE FOR SHORTLISTING 

.STEP 1 :- Organizations announced (Late Feb )
.STEP 2 :-  Students discuss ideas ( Feb-mar ) , submit proposal ( Late Mar - early Apr)
.STEP 3 :- Contributor announced (Early May) 

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN GSOC AS A STUDENT 

1. Learn a programing language .

    - Popular Languages Like :-
       
       . Javascript / Typescript 
       . Java 
       . C++
       . Python 

 Note:-By learning these languages you will get development based project 

2. Learn about Git & Github 

3. Gain open source experience 

. First is you can visit on GITHUB and make an account and start contribute on random projects.
   

                                                                         OR 

. Second is which is some better and parallel  

 . you can go on GSOC official website.
 . Go to the project section and take an analysis on past year project which is based on their programing
   language.


BEST WAY TO START CONTRIBUTING ON PROJECTS 

. You should to take small steps means start with small contribution and make urself confident after          that  you can take part in large contribution .

. Small contribution means every github project has some issues basically you have to small these 
  issues and if you want to add some new features into the code you can.
  
ISSUES SOLVING FOR BEGGINERS ON GITHUB 

. If a new student comes github for solving issues then you have to go on the issues section and type good medium issues  ( as shown in below image) and then you can solve issues related this and build you experience .



4. START CONTRIBUTING TO PROJECTS

. contribute atleast on 2 projects and try to communicate with the project organization .

5. WRITE A GOOD PROPOSAL 

.You should to write about your experiences and achievements in solving issues on project and also about why you want to join gsoc.
